plug-ins

Rockkansas.com uses some of the Internet's most powerful, popular web formats. All of these web formats are plug-ins and are available for FREE download from their respective websites.

Follow the instructions below to get the proper plug-ins for your computer.

RealPlayer :: streaming AUdiO

RealPlayer is easily the best audio-streaming player out there -- and the only one you can use to tune in to Rk Radio or listen to streaming Audio Interviews. You can also use Real to view our video, but we *highly* recommend Quicktime for video.

Real Player is free but it's a serious pain-in-the-ass to find if you're looking on the Real.com site. They try to trick people into buying RealOne. Do NOT spend money on this. It's nowhere near worth it.

If you're having trouble look on www.download.com. In their search box, type "Realplayer." If you're using a MAC, the free version is usually easy to find on the real.com site.

If you are stilling having trouble using the free Real Player, contact us help@rockkansas.com. Without it, you're missing out on a great deal of our content!

Quicktime :: VidEO

Quicktime is free and simply the best player for viewing video.

It is usuable by all operating systems and is available for free at :: www.apple.com/quicktime

We need not even avail ourselves to help you with downloading Quicktime because the folks at Apple have made this incredibly easy to find and use.

Windows Media :: streaming AUdiO + VidEO

Get Windows Media Player

Windows Media Player is available from Microsoft at: www.microsoft.com. In the spirit of not facilitating Microsofts' world domination, we discourage using it. Besides it's hella inferior to Quicktime for streaming video.

WinAmp :: MP3 AUdiO

Get Winamp Player

Winamp's MP3 player is a handy way to to listen to mp3s on PCs. Winamp stores play lists, has an equalizer and lets you customize the player's appearance. Winamp is available for free from Nullsoft at www.winamp.com.

Flash :: ANiMATiON

Macromedia Flash is the internet standard for high-impact animation. It is available from Macromedia at: www.Macromedia.com

Acrobat :: DOCUMENTS

Get Windows Media Player

Adobe Acrobat is the most reliable way to share printable documents. Acrobat converts any document into an Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) file, with its original appearance preserved for distribution and printing on any system. Acrobat reader is occasionally required to view and print the (PDF) versions of our local maps, and it is available from Adobe systems at www.adobe.com.
